Ecopower is a renewable energy cooperative from Flanders, Belgium. It aims to increase the production of local renewable energy and to rationalise energy use. Our mission is a decentralized, democratic and 100% renewable energy system involving citizens as fully fledged partners.As a cooperative, we abide by the 7 international cooperative principles in our internal and external activities. Ecopower is a moving force behind the Flemish cooperative network Coopkracht vzw.At the end of 2021 Ecopower had over 60.000 cooperative members. Ecopower invests in renewable energy projects: wind, solar, hydro, biomass. It also provides green electricity to its member-clients.Ecopower was founded in 1991 and started supplying in 2003. The cooperative also played an important role in setting up the regional and international networks for citizens energy cooperatives REScoop Vlaanderen en REScoop.eu.Ecopower also established a local production line for green heat in the wood pellets factory in Ham.
