Mission:A community of connectors; employers, job seekers and community stakeholders working together to open doors for those seeking meaningful employment.History:CWAT developed five (5) years ago out of a need to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and those working with them to brainstorm and problem solve additional ways to open doors in the employment community. Three (3) years later, the concept developed that everyone was welcome at the table and so began the sharing of employment contacts and encouraging attendees to expand their influence and outreach. Networking clearly works! Process:CWAT meets monthly in a town hall type setting. The format of the meeting is that employers introduce themselves first and share their hiring needs. Job seekers then follow, sharing a brief elevator speech in hopes of making a connection with an attendee. Finally, any new entities (non-profits, etc.) attending for the first time introduce themselves and their mission. An hour of networking follows to allow for discussion between all attendees; this is where the magic happens and connections are made! Following the meeting, notes are shared with an extensive e-mail list that includes all employers, job seekers and organizations that have attended, past and present, and will include all current open positions shared at the meeting. Additionally, employers are encouraged to send their hiring needs to an email administrator who then disseminates the information to the CWAT community.
