The Gut Health Science organisation is a not-for-profit incorporated associationthat has been founded by Dr Henry Butt, (MSc, PhD, Clinical Associate Professor, University of Melbourne), one of Australia's foremost faecal microbiologists— and Dr Fi Lam (MHB (Imm), MBChB, DipSport Med, Cert Int Med (Qld),FRNZCGP, FRACGP, FACNEM) — a GP who has applied a lens of nutrition,genomics and deep listening to much of her practice over the years. The ClinicalAdvisor to GHS is Dr Helena Johnston(MBBS, FACRRM, FRACMA, DipRCOG).The purpose of GHSO is to provide evidence-based information on gut health through real-life case studies, ongoing research and continuing clinical application of new findings in the effects of microbiota on patient health.GHS will create a knowledge bank that generates research funding — throughlearning modules and webinars for GPs and Allied Health professionals — withthe aim of increasing our understanding of how gut microbiota affect health andinforming health professionals, along with the wider community, about betterresponses to gut health issues and nutrition.
