A Boston native, Ms. Fitzgerald wanted to find a way to "give back" to the City by assisting local residents who were interested in operating a neighborhood business, but did not have the initial start up funding to transition their vision into a viable plan, course of action, or actual neighborhood business.Established in 2016, Heartank is a grass roots organization which offers support, encouragement, and funding to local would-be entrepreneurs. In order to qualify, candidates will fill out a brief application form and make a presentation, explaining their business mission, goals, and objectives. The Heartank panel will review all of the entries and meet with the candidates, to offer suggestions, guidance, and advice, before selecting a winner, who will also receive $10,000 to be used towards their new business endeavor. The Heartank panel will be providing four $10,000 awards annually. Heartank's objective is to identify the best new Massachusetts business opportunities, and provide these start-ups with the tools needed to succeed.Heartank hopes to be able to provide the bootstrap funding, knowledge, and support to new entrepreneurs in every neighborhood throughout Boston and beyond.
