Het bedrijf werd opgericht door de familie Leirman, kort na de 2e Wereld Oorlog. In 1950 verhuisde de zagerij, wegens plaatsgebrek, naar Gistel, het huidige adres. Een ideale ligging langs de spoorweg Oostende-Torhout. Zo werd het hout tot aan de voordeur geleverd. Het bedrijf werd tot in 1992 geleid door de familie Leirman. Daar er geen op- volgers waren, werd het bedrijf overgenomen door Carl De Deurwaerder. Een verjongende bries waait sindsdien door het bedrijf.
