Aside from the holiday rituals and customs that make us feel warm and cozy (hot chocolate!!), winter is in fact when the things around us die. Trees grow bare and show their age, plants fade and grow brittle and much of nature goes into hibernation, in a sense, becoming dead to the world. It's a natural part of the life cycle and in a strange way quite beautiful. Killer Greetings explores this great duality of the season. Celebrating not necessarily any specific holiday, but more the idea of winter and the feeling that's in the air around that time of year. It strives to find the beautiful and fun side of death and dying. Showing it in a poetic way that outweighs the macabre and grotesque. Dark imagery that also embodies a sense of peace and wonder is what guides the artwork of these cards. Creating a delightful kind of mystery, the kind you once had as a kid when you thought Santa was real and still believed in magic…(:O Don't worry, I know Santa is totally real. At least, that's my explanation for all of the missing cookies.) The real holiday magic though, is in giving to others and sharing time with loved ones (cliché, but it's true). Killer Greetings tries to breathe life back into that magical side of sharing. Transferring those feelings you had when you were a kid into something beautifully strange and unique to share with friends and family that is full of the same wonder and mystery.
