Porto Biomechanics Laboratory (LABIOMEP – Laboratório de Biomecânica do Porto) is an interface structure of different faculties of the Porto University, being devoted to assess, research and teaching biomechanics. 2011 is the year of birth of LABIOMEP, which was accomplished with founding of the European Community, the Portuguese Government, and the University of Porto.LABIOMEP will be initially installed at the Faculty of Sport facilities, once it is a central building of the Asprela pole of the University of Porto. It is expected that the installation process may be finished on time to ISBS2011. Anyway, the organization of this event by the University of Porto, was driven by the celebration of both its 100th anniversary, and the birth of LABIOMEP. Indeed, the ISBS2011 Symposium is the first milestone accomplished by LABIOMEP in the domain of the organization of international scientific events.
