The objective of MACORSAT project is to develop and test the hardware and software modules for the bidirectional transmission of data produced by onboard assets and systems on seagoing vessels while at sea. Data transmission will utilize the new VDES (VHF Data Exchange System) radio communication system via one of three routes: ship-to-satellite-to-shore (VDE-SAT) using the Sternula satellite constellation; ship-to-shore (VDE-TER) to terrestrial AIS and VDES receivers on the coast within 50-80km; and maritime LTE (LTE-M) networks through an LTE router.The Consortium consists of 3 partners:Sternula is a Danish SME and a first commercial provider of affordable, secure and global connectivity or the maritime industry using the new AIS 2.0 standard, also known as the "VHF Data Exchange System" (VDES).DACOMA is a Danish SME that designs, manufactures, and delivers innovative wave stabilizer solutions for crew transfer vessels in the offshore industry. Their goal is to increase productivity of service and installation personnel due to eliminating motion sickness, to make crew transfer safer, and to increase vessel utilization due to improved seakeeping. In addition, their solution saves fuel, is more compact than competing system and works in a wide speed range.HarborMax is based in South Korea and provides high quality communication infrastructure for maritime wireless communication field, using their tracking antenna and Maricomm station.
