Nautican Foundation aims to continually motivate new generations of Nantucket Island residents and visitors to be aware of, and supportive of charitable organizations that benefit the island, its community, and its people. Our name is inspired by one of the original Wampanoag translations for Nantucket, Nauticon, which meant "faraway island".This "faraway island" of Nantucket, which is 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is a summer retreat and a diverse year-round community. With a mix of Nantucket residents and visitors, members of Nautican Foundation enjoy the island in all seasons.The goal of Nautican Foundation is to bridge the gap between Nantucket's non-profits and a support base of young professionals. Our generation, like those before us, has made countless memories on the island and we want to see it preserved for the future.Those organizations whose objectives fit in with our foundation's mission include but are not limited to those that focus on conservation, preservation and community outreach. Non-profits we have supported in the past include Sustainable Nantucket, Nantucket Boys & Girls Club and Nantucket Community Sailing.In the future, Nautican Foundation will continue to raise awareness and funds through donations and fundraisers for a broad spectrum of Nantucket's charities, motivate new generations of those who love Nantucket to give, and help secure the island for the future.
