Priyam Global is an international nonprofit passionate about improving child and family health. Through our innovative MAHLA project model, we are developing a targeted, focused, and replicable approach to improving the health and wellbeing of children who have been marginalized by disability and are living in poverty. We do this by equipping their mothers to earn sustainable incomes, educating their families to advocate for their own rights, and addressing immediate issues such as healthcare, clean water and nutritious food, and social support.Our work empowers families in India to prevent child abandonment and strengthens community organizations that nourish child wellbeing, with a special emphasis on children affected by disability. We fill the gap in global health efforts for children affected by developmental disability—150 million worldwide, 80% living in developing countries. Most are born into extreme poverty. The World Health Organization has repeatedly stated that this is one of the most neglected areas in international development. We are changing that.
