01/09/2017:After much discussion, and many backs and forths, the SeekShelter team is sad to announce that we will be disbanding.This decision was difficult to make as we all still truly believe that everybody deserves a place to sleep. However, after some great interviews and feedback – with many different parties who are (and have been) involved in the homelessness/care services – we discovered that there are independent systems set up and working that provide the services we were looking to help with. We believe there is still a need for one centralised system, that is accessible by all parties but politics is not any of our fortes.We hope that the work we have done to meet and speak with people who work in this area has started conversations, and we're happy to share our learnings along with our original system concept via GitHub here: https://github.com/paulthebassguy/seekshelterWe're happy to leave the Facebook and Twitter accounts active to host conversations that may develop in future.Thank you all once again for your support, SeekShelterEveryone deserves a place to sleep – when a shelter is at capacity, what do people do?SeekShelter manages shelter occupancy in real-time, and provides transparency to other shelters in the area. This means if somebody turns up and the shelter is at capacity, they wouldn't be turned away with nowhere to go. The shelter could quickly refer somebody to an alternative.Our blue-sky vision is to have this accessible via libraries/public facilities and also capable on mobile to cater directly to the transient population, who have access to at least one of these facilities.
