We are committed to providing a service based on the successful implementation of systems developed by Dr Elaine Ingham of Soil Foodweb Inc. Operating out of Central Otago in the South Island, the laboratory offers its services to all those making their living from the soil. While initially working mainly with those in the organic sector we now find ourselves focusing on mainstream producers wishing to take a biological approach so as to minimise toxic chemical inputs. It is remarkably easy to adapt the farmers existing nutrient program to facilitate a smooth transition from traditional 'mineral only replacement' to biological production. This holistic approach ensures the complete system is revamped; creating healthy soil, crops, stock, and people.Monitoring your soil microbiology (fungi, bacteria, protozoa nematodes and mycorrhiza) will ensure their levels of activity and diversity are improving, and your treatment once started continues to be effective. The correct balance and numbers of these organisms is crucial for optimum plant production.By sending your soils (compost/compost tea) to the lab we can supply you with an indepth analysis with full interpretation of your soil health. To maintain our independance we do not supply product. However we are able to analyse products and suggest remedial actions. Only products having attained the 'SFI Tick of Approval' are recommended to our client base as suitable inputs in our programs.
