The Giving Net's Mission is to build civically engaged communities through multimedia and community-based philanthropy. CONVENING The Giving Net believes in the power of convening and learning. We convene community members, public servants and change makers from various sectors and communities to share ideas, listen, network and learn. We also host "Solution Suppers" where people enjoy a great meal while discussing solutions to community based issues. We then take the information and work with attendees to turn the ideas into action through community philanthropy strategies. MEDIA The Giving Net uses multimedia to build civically engaged communities. We host a radio show, blog and empower and train citizen journalist. We also produce documentaries about civic engagement, public service and social change.STORY SHARING The Giving Net believes that listening and story sharing are important tools for public service and social change. We use our radio show as a platform to share stories of service and highlight people and organizations who are committed to public service and/or social change. We hope to inspire and empower our listeners through the sharing of stories. The show airs every Wednesday at 1:00 pm EST. CONSULTING The Giving Net also offers strategy development, community philanthropy consulting, team building, and facilitation services to businesses, civic organizations, religious institutions, and nonprofit clients who work to strengthen local communities.
