The Universal Fairytale is artist Chandra Brooks' global storytelling project which tells the same tale to different audiences in each of their own languages with visual enrichment provided by integrating their cultural, historical, mythological, visual and performance art history in order to create an adaptation which is unique to the culture of the translation. The Universal Fairytale creates global folkloric heritage as a platform for intercultural, interlinguistic collaborations as well as to create a dialogue on the building blocks of multi-cultural legacies which form national identities. The Universal Fairytale is created entirely by hand to uphold the dreamy, organic feeling given off by beautiful rare fairytale collections as well as to create a body of related material which will be reinvented through state-of-the-arts internet and digital technology with an emphasis on open source productivity to create a renaissance between handicraft and 21st century technology which showcases the best qualities of both while creating a potential for aesthetic greatness which neither could have achieved alone.
