There is so much to be said about wellbeing and culture, yet it is hard to know what to do. In a time where workloads are increasing, burnout is on the rise, and we look for ways to be more flexible and to support staff, we are often left to our own devices to try and make sense of what is needed and how we can support ourselves and others. The same can be said for our own wellbeing; we know it matters, but finding what works, prioritising time, and putting this into practice is easier said than done. With an abundance of self-help books now available, and wellbeing becoming a crucial part of workplace health and safety, where do you start and what do you do? This is not an easy question to answer. No quick fixes, one-size fits all solutions, or 1-day PD events or short-course you can do that will solve everything. Elevating your own wellbeing, and workplace wellbeing, means developing new habits, creating change, and evolving. It takes time, strategy, and work, and is what we are here to help you achieve. For many schools and workplaces, there is a perception that you have to choose between improving wellbeing, the work you do, or building culture. Amy believes that all of these components go together. You do not need to choose between staff wellbeing, looking at productivity or engagement, or culture - they are all interwoven and connected. What matter most is that you do this collectively, with transparency, and where all stakeholders feel psychologically safe. The work of wellbeing can be challenging, complicated and messy, and requires bravery, vulnerability, and courage, therefore safe, open, trusting work environments are essential.
