There was something mystical around their organisation as families that he wanted to value. He selected foremost craftsmen with specific skills, created his own designs and sourced prime materials. Determined to share his creations, Fukukichi Uno eventually founded his own label Unofuku quickly made its reputation, thanks to the quality of its "Yanagi" bags, an ancient variety of Japanese rattan that had this unique ability to protect rice or clothes from insects and humidity. Along the years, new materials were constantly introduced from modern Nylons to traditional leathers of Tajima Cattles sourced within Kobe area and Hyogo Prefecture, and even the bags handles receive a special treatment using wood of "Sakura", Japan's cherry blossom. The designs are continuously adapted to the needs and trends, with the same ultimate goal to safeguard the bags' contents. The activity has expanded by diversifying through different brands like Baggex, Luggex, 129 Corp, etc. Unofuku has exported its collection of Japanese handcrafted bags to Europe and America, while manufacturing overseas a collection of bags dedicated to meet a domestic demand. In 1997, Unofuku established a Representative Office in Hong Kong. In 2012, a showroom hosting a Sales Department was launched in Tokyo. All operations are closely monitored from the company's headquarters in Toyooka, the city that has historically ranked as Japan's leading city in terms of bags.Representing the third generation, Unofuku President, Mr Takaya Uno, recalls the strong values of sincerity and trust that have built the reputation and which have remained "Fuhen", the Japanese word for "unchanged". Evolution becomes a matter of "Sottaku no Ki", meaning timing explains it all.
