EPICS is a service-learning design program in which teams of students partner with local and global community organizations to address human, community, and environmental needs. Our partners are the Wabash Center, who is the leader in optimizing the quality of life for those with disabilities or special needs, and the West Lafayette Schools Education Foundation, whose work with the West Lafayette Backpack program helps help to feed every student who qualifies for free and reduced lunch, per federal guidelines, in the WL school system. Currently, our teams are working on creating an interactive AR Sandbox for the Wabash Center, and a Bagging Station for the West Lafayette High School food pantry. The Wabash Center EPICS design team at Purdue University builds innovative and inclusive products for individuals at the Wabash Center in Lafayette, IN. With our accessible and human centered designs, we intend to impact individuals by improving cognitive ability, productivity, and offering value to the environment. The West Lafayette Schools Education Foundation EPICS design team builds creative and efficient products for individuals working with the food pantry at the West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School in West Lafayette, IN. With our designs, we are hoping to improve the productivity, accessibility, and smoothness of the environment surrounding the food pantry bagging process and help to create an efficient environment.
