The University of Kent's Centre for Child Protection is an international centre of excellence. We provide the chance to learn from leading experts in the field and to inspire and motivate staff to raise professional standards through confident practice.The Centre has two main areas of focus; our distance learning MA in Advanced Child Protection with affiliated studies and the development and delivery of child protection training via our research-based and innovative child protection simulations. The Centre brings together inter-professional perspectives using innovative techniques and technology throughout its two-year, part-time distance learning MA in Advanced Child Protection. Learning involves engagement with most of our child protection simulations, expert lectures, online and in-person discussions across a multi-professional cohort dedicated to child protection professionals and much more. For those wanting a taster of post graduate learning, we offer MA modules as individual Standalone Modules and as well as a unique module ‘Direct Work with Children' which is only available as a Standalone Module. Additionally, a Certificate and Diploma in Advanced Child Protection are also available.Our CPD accredited and award-winning simulations enable ‘players' to work through complex child protection situations in a safe environment which encourages reflection, practical thinking and critical decision making. These research informed simulations develop confidence and skills to manage and prepare for a variety of different child protection matters. The simulations comprise of our Grooming Suite and our Rosie Suite. The ‘Grooming Suite' (Looking out for Lottie; Maryam and Joe: Behind Closed Doors; Zak and Young Zak; Crossing the Line) tackle matters of exploitation by brining ‘players' up close and personal with young people and their environments – including the latest social media applications, peer/neighbourhood influences, and other extra-familial factors.
