Transcoastal Adaptations: Centre for Nature-Based Solutions is a solutions-focused, applied centre of expertise at Saint Mary's University (SMU). Our mission is to build climate resilient coastal communities and ecosystems by protecting, enhancing, and restoring natural processes through innovative research and collaboration; implementing nature-based adaptation solutions. Our vision is to be a leader in education, research, and implementation of nature-based adaptation solutions. Our values are: Environmental stewardship, innovation, knowledge transfer, community, and integrity. To ensure that our work is backed by science-based decision making while still meeting the current needs of the region, TransCoastal Adaptations is grounded in three main themes: Research and Innovation, Community Outreach and Engagement, and Application.
