Sam Swope retired December 31, 2011, but continues as Founder and a member of the Board of Directors. Over the years, Sam Swope contributed back to his community in numerous ways including service on the Boards of Louisville Water Company, University of Louisville, University of Louisville Hospital, Lincoln Heritage Council of Boy Scouts of America, Kosair Charities, Kosair Children's Hospital, Norton Hospital, and more. He was honored with the 1971 Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award, the 1999 Silver Beaver Award from the Lincoln Heritage Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Laureate in 2000, and the 2003 Ohio State University Alumni Citizenship Award.
